We love this update from Ada First Assembly of God, of how they are reaching their community.
“JumpStart” started by Ada First Assembly of God as a ministry within the church to reach first year teachers in the Ada area. This ministry was implemented by teachers in the church to collect and offer new teachers a “JumpStart” to their teaching career by providing much needed supplies and assistance in preparing their classroom for their first year. It slowly turned into a ministry that reaches all teachers in the school. JumpStart collects school supply items each month by donation from their congregation and puts together “Teacher” bags full of much needed supplies. Bags are arranged and delivered to each teacher individually with love, encouragement, and blessings by the JumpStart team.
We had been discussing how we can reach the students in a similar fashion over the past year and Kaleo was the answer! What a blessing they have been in the three months we have partnered with them.
We recently distributed food bags to over 400 students (5-6 grade), 40 teachers, 34 firefighters, 6 veterans and 10 C4 (Christ 4 recovery) children.
We hope to be able to expand in this partnership with Kaleo to include serving more students throughout Ada.
Various comments from students who helped us unload bags at their school were: “What is this for? ” “Everyone gets one of these!”, “This is awesome”
They were very appreciative and thankful. And what an opportunity to share the love of Jesus. One teacher at the high school who’s son came home with a bag said he was so excited and was very thankful and wanted to know where they came from…Not only are the students being blessed but so are the givers.
